Created for ‘Shit Show’, installed in public toilets across Melbourne. Curated by Anna Schwann.

In an overused and undercleaned toilet in Fitzroy, to the soothing accompaniment of a jazz piano cover of ‘What the World Needs Now is Love, Sweet Love’, a computerised voice over pleads for a better world.

As Melburnians frantically stockpiled toilet paper at the beginning of the Covid-19 crisis, Three Drops mimicked the robotised toileting experience provided in public restrooms across the world. Taking the infamous backing track used in Exeloo toilets, it featured a soothing digital voiceover that overstepped its instructive role and begged for toilet users to become more thoughtful members of their community.

Asking what it means to be part of a public, and using humour to face an oncoming catastrophe, Three Drops makes a case for humanity in the most human of locations.
